At their Antwerp warehouse of 14.000 m2 Overseas stocks over 4000 SKU’s of duty free products in the categories, tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, spirits, wines, champagne, P&C and confectionery.

Overseas employs more than 60 people, exclusively involved in the duty free travel retail distribution.

To further strengthen the organization, we are on the look-out for a category manager tobacco.

Job description

In the role of ‘Purchasing Manager Tobacco’, under the leadership of the CEO, this position is responsible for the complete management of Tobacco suppliers (= commercial, turn over, stock, margin, finance and logistics) with the support of the respective departments of ODC.  He/she ensures the smooth execution of the agreements with the suppliers and ensures that the company always has the right products available at the most favorable price and keeps the commercial relationship with suppliers’ strong. In addition, he/she also looks for new purchase opportunities within the category of Liquor.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the allocation of all Tobaccos in close collaboration with Sales, in order to avoid and/or resolve stock problems or trading risks.

Finally this position will give advice on retail opportunities for Tobaccos to the sales managers.

  • In terms of supplier management your tasks will mainly be: negotiating purchase prices, preparing prices & price lists, managing the PO-process, monitoring performance per supplier and following up the agreed service level of the Suppliers, organizing annual supplier meetings with all your suppliers, drafting and executing a visit plan for your suppliers.
  • Your job will be to coordinate with customer service in case of questions or deviations regarding the fulfillment of Purchase orders.
  • You will critically follow up on supplier satisfaction in your supplier portfolio and think along with CEO about activities to improve service towards the supplier.
  • You will prepare correct prices & reconciliations in Navision
  • You will draw up a margin increase plan per supplier and come up with simplification ideas to have less reconciliations
  • You take responsibility for optimal stock management for your product-supplier mix
  • You take correct purchase decisions for each product by analyzing all characteristics of the products and translating this in the dynamic purchase program ‘Slim Stock’
  • (de) listing of (new) products of existing suppliers
  • You will perform monthly follow up on slow moving stock and discuss solutions with Sales/Suppliers .
  • You manage the allocations for all Tobaccos imposed by the supplier or decided by ODC due to shortage of stocks or risk of trading.
  • You follow up on stock of these allocated products and propose the appropriate actions : less purchasing with suppliers or allocate more stocks to customers.
  • You Manage all Tobaccos with trading risk and coordinate answers & actions on trading incidences. (grey market reports)
  • You manage & support the sales managers for all category tenders for Tobaccos .
  • You proactively propose products and/or a category of products to retailers via the sales managers.
  • You follow up that suppliers are paid in time
  • You follow up that reconciliation payments from the suppliers are made on time and, if desired, take the necessary extra actions and make agreements.
  • You collaborate in the projects for further digitization of the Purchase support tasks and processes
  • You focus on quality and performance management within the established structures and processes.
