Opes international is a global supplier of commodity and specialty chemical products to a wide range of industries. An independent suppier with no downstream activities.

They specialize in the sales, marketing and distribution of chemical and raw material products to the paint, coatings, inks, resin, textile, adhesives, construction and plastic industries.

Their experience (two decades+) and knowledge globally allows them to understand the intricate mechanics of the markets they serve. Through strategic market observations they bring the best possible deals to their client base.

To expand the team we are currently teaming up to find Opes’ new category buyer for chemicals.

Job description

  • You source globally to mainly serve a European client base. Your initial focus will be on methacrylates.
  • You will team up with 1 category buyer, 1 cost analysis expert, 1 procurement executive and the global commercial director, who also acts as head of procurement.
  • You actively work around risk assessment & in depth cost calculation.
  • You monitor your market closely, detect trends and take strategic decisions after careful analysis.
  • You set and deliver KPI’s relating to cost, cash, quality, service and continuity of supply that fully align with business objectives.
  • You communicate to internal stakeholders and ensure that business strategies are up to date and aligned.
  • You monitor the annual spend forecast and monthly reforecasts while considering reigning market factors.
  • You guarantee continuity of supply by coordinating supplier risk assessments and taking corrective actions plans across your categories.
  • You negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
  • You research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs and/or maximize continuity of supply.

Profile

  • You have at least 5 years of experience of working in the chemical industry, sourcing raw materials / A-chemicals.
  • You are a born multi-tasker able to hit the ground running.
  • You are a strong relationship manager, both internally as well as externally.You build effective relationships with people at all levels, while motivating and energizing others.
  • You show a dynamic and flexible mindset and are very much result- and service oriented.
  • You are known for your proactive approach to anticipating problems and seeking appropriate actions to avoid them.
  • You are willing to travel across the globe.
  • Your show strong analytical, influencing and planning skills and are a strategic thinker.
  • You communicate clearly and listen actively – you involve others in your roadmap.
  • You understands the importance of identifying and meeting the needs of external and internal customers.
  • You are a smooth and strong negotiator, getting the best deal possible is key for you – while not losing sight of the importance of each and every relationship.
  • You are a strong commercial project manager with a natural feel for contract drafting and process control.
  • It is paramount to be fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • You show the ability to tailor your style to different audiences.
  • You possess the ability to assess the market and use it to the benefit of the company.
  • You have a good understanding of the import, export and customs process.
