VYNCKE is a 4th generation family business, founded in 1912 by Louis Vyncke. With roots in Flanders, today this global business is organized locally with over 370 Vynckeneers spread across 9 settlements. Today we have over 4,300 references worldwide.

The Vynckeneers engineer and build industrial energy plants that convert biomass and industrial waste into clean energy. The thermal energy ranges from 1-100 MWth and electrical power from 1-20 MWe. The energy created either comes individually or in any combination of steam, hot water, thermal oil and hot gas… with or without electrical power generation.

In terms of growth, we are looking to expand the procurement team with a project buyer.

Job description

The Project buyer is a key member of the different project teams, focusing on procurement throughout the whole project phase (from presales to commissioning).  The Project Buyer assures that all project related purchases are prepared and executed in the most optimal conditions: the requested technology for the best possible price.  As such he/she is contributing to the overall gross margin target of the projects.

Your key tasks areas are:

  • Preparation & networking: you will be involved in the presales process, providing up to date price & supplier information. You develop and maintain a supplier’s network within the assigned region.
  • Purchasing & giving support: you master the purchasing process within the project teams. You define the purchasing priorities, you gather cross functional input, you propose a shortlist of suppliers, you follow ‘critical’ sourcing items, …  Finally you negotiate the price and contractual conditions.  You align with the unit manager for major purchases.
  • After care & administration: You handle supplier complaints, evaluate suppliers and fulfil the admin processes in our ERP system.
  • As Project buyer you can develop yourself as specialist and perform as lead buyer for the global company. You will travel –for a short period- abroad for supplier visits.
  • The project buyer is working closely together with the Project Managers and reports to the Unit Manager, responsible for the gross margin of the projects. You will have various daily contacts with suppliers, colleagues in the project teams and project buyers in other VYNCKE settlements.
  • Your overall budget responsibility will approximately be €60M spread over different projects in Western-Europe & Latin America (10-15 projects simultaneously)


  • You have obtained a degree in economics or engineering. You have minimum 8 years of experience in purchasing technical goods, components and/or services. Experience in building and maintaining relationships at an international level is a strong asset.
  • You choose to work in project teams. With your expertise & competences you contribute to a team result.
  • You are interested in the VYNCKE concepts & solutions.
  • You are able to travel for short periods up to 10% of your time.
  • You can express yourself fluently in Dutch, English & French. Other European languages like German, Portuguese or Spanish have a strong surplus value.
  • Straightforward thinker, detail minded, ambitious, relational, customer intimacy mindset, partnership oriented, commercial negotiator, bridge builder.
  • You are all about bringing added value to cross functional teams, customers & suppliers.
