To reinforce their procurement team, 3D systems is looking for a motivated strategic buyer.

Job description

As a team member of Advanced Manufacturing organization, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for ensuring adequate sourcing to produce 3D printed parts in our Leuven site. The Strategic Buyer will work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize the supplier base for both indirect and direct spend. The Strategic buyer will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

 

  • Source potential new suppliers by evaluating commercial, technical and supply chain capabilities in support to the NPI engineering team
  • Issue RFQ’s, follow up and analyze offers
  • Negotiate with existing and new suppliers to secure advantageous terms and initiate supplier 
agreements for critical indirect and direct spend
  • Develop a solid purchasing strategy for the large and critical spend groups such as post 
processing subcontracted services
  • Lead resourcing projects and identify make/buy projects
  • Actively work on cost saving initiatives by performing spend analysis, define a sourcing strategy 
for the large and critical spend groups such as post processing subcontracted services
  • Develop existing supplier relationships to create partnerships and work on opportunities
  • Lead and improve the quarterly supplier performance review process, establishing performance 
goals consistent with the business strategy
  • Work closely with QA engineers on supplier quality performance and with suppliers to resolve 
issues
  • Drive continuous improvement projects where necessary within procurement, liaise with 
pertinent support functions/stakeholders to finetune and develop business processes where 
needed
  • Support PTP buyers where needed, including serving as a back-up when needed

Profile

  • You hold a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated and succesful procurement experience.
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Business or Engineering or Supply Chain
  • Advanced experience with MS Office is required; knowledge of Oracle is a plus
  • Hands on (dynamic/flexible), well organized, structured, speed of execution, critical, taking initiatives
  • Strong verbal and formal communication skills, assertive to build network with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to define problems, hypothesize, collect appropriate data and draw valid conclusions
  • Willingness to visit suppliers on site for follow up and to gain production process expertise
