To support the further internationalisation of Lotus Biscoff, Lotus Bakeries operates in fourteen countries with its own sales offices and its own sales teams. Cooperation also takes place with local commercial partners in more than fifty countries and via their channels, they launch their products in new markets.

Lotus Bakeries targets a second international growth area: natural and healthy snacking. they entered this new segment in 2015 with the acquisitions of Natural Balance Foods and Urban Fresh foods. This for the BEAR, Nakd and TREK brands. The natural and healthy snacking range was further extended in 2018 with the acquisition of Kiddylicious, the fastest growing brand in the baby snacking category in the United Kingdom.

Lotus Bakeries initially focused on their home market, the United Kingdom. their existing sales organisations have meanwhile achieved increasing international success for these brands in parts of Europe, Asia and the United States.

Finally, there are their local core brands: the ‘hero’ products. They are present in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom with a wide range of local ‘hero’ products : biscuits, waffles, cakes, gingerbread and natural snacks. They want to develop these already strong market positions by investing continuously in this wide range. That way, Lotus Bakeries strengthens its position as market leader in the relevant subsegments.

 

Job description

As the Corporate Buyer you’re responsible for the strategic procurement of our packaging categories on a group level (all plants in europe / US & South-Africa exempted). You’ll be working closely with different colleagues in different areas and departments within the whole Lotus Bakeries Group ensuring that the chosen sourcing strategies are executed accordingly.

  • Analyzing market information and processes in order to develop effective sourcing strategies and action plans.
  • Working closely with your main stakeholders on translating their business strategy of existing and new product development.
  • Managing packaging and supplier portfolios on a strategic, tactical and operational level while searching for new opportunities.
  • Concluding framework contracts while finding an optimal balance between quality, reliability, sustainability and total cost of ownership.
  • Monitoring contracts, volumes, price differences, raw material evolutions on a regular basis.
  • You’ll be reporting to the procurement group manager packaging, who used to be responsible for the portfolio of spend for this open position. The procurement group manager packaging has a direct reporting line to the COO and holds high visibility on ExCo-level.
  • You’ll be part of a team of 2 other buyers with focus on packaging + the group procurement manager packaging. Your individual activities will be oriented towards (a.o.) foil, flat cardboard, plastic trays & various materials. A portfolio with a large variety of suppliers, a geographical spread & multi-plant focus. There’s a second procurement-team active within Lotus Bakeries with focus on services & raw materials (8 colleagues). Additionally two other colleagues are active on administration & master data.

Profile

  • You hold a master’s degree preferably in economics combined with 2-5 years of experience in procurement, FMCG and/or packaging is a plus.
  • You’re a good negotiator with an analytical mindset and a commercial feeling.
  • You are able and comfortable to define and implement strategies for your appointed categories.
  • You value open communication in building up professional relationships.
  • Due to your inquisitive nature you show engagement, motivation and professionalism.
  • You’re fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus.
  • You are apt at defining cost drivers, building up long lasting partnerships, optimising supplier relations, managing specifications/requirements, working with marketing + R&D.
  • You map your market-potential on short, mid & long term.
  • You work autonomous, show involvement, ask for input, take actions in a concise and well-thought-over way.
  • Open for occasional travelling and supplier visits.
